Mandatory Gear List

The Marine Drive Ultra is an annual event that takes place along the scenic coastal stretch of Bangladesh, from Cox’s Bazar to Teknaf. It is the first ever and most exhilarating ultramarathon experience in the country, offering three categories: 50km, 100km, and 161km. The following mandatory gear:

All distances:

• A Government ID (Mandatory for native runner)
• Printed copy of passport showing photo, name, date of birth, issue and expiry date (Mandatory for International runner)
• Long sleeve thermal top (polypropylene, wool): This will keep you warm and dry in case of cold or wet weather conditions.
• A pain killer spray as much as you need for yourself.
• Waterproof and breathable jacket with fully taped waterproof seams and hood: This will protect you from rain and wind, while allowing your body to breathe and regulate your temperature.
• Beanie, balaclava or head sock (Buff): This will cover your head and ears and prevent heat loss and sunburn.
• High visibility safety vest: This will make you visible to other runners, vehicles, and volunteers, especially in the dark or foggy conditions.
• Headlamp: This will provide you with light and visibility in the dark, as well as signal your presence to others. Please make sure that it has enough battery life for your entire run.
• Mobile phone: This will allow you to communicate with the race organizers, volunteers, or emergency services in case of any problem or emergency.
• Compass: This will help you navigate the course and find your way in case you get lost or confused (Optional).
• Whistle: This will help you attract attention and alert others in case of any danger or emergency.
• Emergency space blanket (light bivvy sack or equivalent): This will provide you with insulation and protection in case of hypothermia, shock, or injury.
• Compression socks (optional): These are tight-fitting socks that apply graduated pressure to the lower leg muscles, which can improve blood circulation and oxygen delivery to the muscles during exercise. This can help reduce muscle fatigue and soreness in the later stages of the race, as well as prevent swelling and blood clots. Compression socks may also provide stability and support to the muscles, reducing vibration and damage.
• Blister balm or prevention tape: Reduces discomfort and prevents blister formation.
• Compression bandage: This will help you treat any wounds, sprains, or strains that may occur during the race.
• Sun protection: Sunscreen (SPF 30+), hat, sunglasses (consider wraparound style for better protection).
• Weather protection: Lightweight, waterproof jacket and pants suitable for unexpected rain or wind.
• First-aid kit: Containing basic supplies for minor cuts, scrapes, and blisters.
• Personal identification: Race bib, ID etc
• Lightweight dry sack: This will keep your gear and belongings dry and secure in case of rain or water crossings.
• Water bottles or bladders with a capacity to carry 2 litres of water: This will ensure that you have enough hydration for the duration of the race, as well as refill at the aid stations along the route.
• 2 x food bars / food portions: This will provide you with enough calories and nutrition to fuel your energy and performance during the race.
• 1 x ziplock bag for your personal rubbish: This will help you dispose of your waste in a responsible and eco-friendly way, without littering the course or the environment.
• 1 x race number (provided in race pack): This will identify you as a registered participant and allow you to access the aid stations and the finish line.
• Toilet paper and/or trowel: Leave no trace behind

Additional gear for 100km and 100mile:

• Spare socks: Change into dry socks at aid stations to prevent blisters and discomfort.
• Change of clothes: Lightweight base layer or running tights for potential weather changes.
• Insulating layer: Fleece or down jacket for warmth during night hours.
• Sleeping bag or blanket (100km, 100mile): If utilizing sleep stations during the ultra-distance.
• Headlamp charger or spare batteries: Ensure light source remains functional throughout the longer event.
• Headlamp cover (100km, 100mile): To dim light and avoid disturbing other runners at sleep stations.
• Nutrition supplements (optional): Consider gels, chews, or bars for additional energy intake.
• Compression socks (optional): May improve circulation and reduce fatigue in the later stages.
• Pain killer spray as much as you need for yourself.
